Exploring Textiles
We piled our desks high with remnants of fabric that Maree has gathered over the years. We touched and gently rubbed the fabrics against our cheeks and described what we felt. We closed our eyes and described what the fabric that our partners selected for us
This is what it felt like
shiny, soft, hairy, woolly, hard, sparkly, rough, see through, scaly like a fish, fluffy like cotton wool
We cut up the material into small squares some of the material has pattern on it and some of its plain. We made sets. A set a pile of something all the same.
We worked with our partners from first class to finish our flag designs from last week. Preparing the fabric before we started pencil pushing made all the difference!
stripes stars triangles rectangles
Today we looked at world flags, the shapes, the colour, the symbols. We designed our own flags using cut out shapes. We used these designs to make fabric prodding pieces which we will have to finish next week!
Building dream cities
Today we invited first class into the Kingdom to help us build houses with the red clay that Palissa brought to us from Lesotho.
