We followed exactly the same route a second time – journey number 2, and collected smaller things again, as residue from the journey. Thinking of our initial starting point, we mixed these with water and poured the residue through a sink strainer.

A NEW PHASE AND THE CONCEPT – RESIDUE
RESIDUE
The image below was taken during the previous project phase, when we were working around the word repeat.
From this, the word RESIDUE arose to become our current work concept.
We looked at other ongoing studio work and discussed what the word residue might mean.

Hand Drawing After Toni Orrico
We started our day by watching a video. The only information I gave was that it was of the work of the artist, Tony Orrico. We agreed to watch from beginning to end quietly. It was, quite simply, wonderful.
I asked questions afterwards. We invested time exploring the variety of answers given – as to how each one might be possible and maybe even different alternatives possible at the same time.
Then we set to work, on a smaller scale, after Toni Orrico – hand drawing. We taped a drawing pencil to our forefinger and proceeded, using the thumb on that hand as the anchorage point. We experimented with a variety of hand movements and were interested to see what kind of marks were left behind on the paper. As our hands got tired the marks made reflected that too.
I gave instructions with each drawing as to how our hands should move.We wrote these instructions out at the bottom of the drawing.
