Light drawings-Week3

Using the digital camera the class made long exposures of 6 seconds while they moved torches. These worked best in the darkest part of the room with blinds closed and using people to help block out the light. We practiced the range of movements possible within the 6 seconds and talked about framing so that we would have an idea what the camera could see. No-one could stay still long enough to hold the camera steady for 6 seconds. I explained that I would use a tripod -the class showed me their tripod -too little to hold the camera. They improvised with books and boxes to keep the camera steady. The Elluminate programme allowed us to share software so that I could review the images with the class later in the day. We were able to ooh and ahh as their experiments appeared. I’m very excited to see their work up on the journals.
