Our Time With Fionnuala By Lara

On the first week Fionnuala came to our classroom and she put us into 4 groups. We all had to make a group noise and pick which number we would make the sound on 1,2,3,4 and our group picked number 1. It was great fun to meet her in person.

On the next week we talked to Fionnuala over the internet on a program called Elluminate Live! Fionnuala showed us how we can use the different tools for different things and she brought some people up to try out the tools and show her and it was great fun. Then at the end of the session she made a score chart of our sounds that we had made the week before.

On the third week we listened to a piece of music and drew an image of what we thought it  would look like. Then we got into groups and made a story with our pictures.

On the fourth week we used the iPads with Keynote and we typed out our story on it. Then after we used Garage Band  and recorded our story it was  great fun.

I really liked Fionnuala doing this with us. she is really nice, kind and helpful.

Our Time with Fionnuala By Nicole

Week one

The first week Fionnuala came to our school and we  started off by doing some exercises by touching our toes, knees, hips and other parts of our bodies. Then we split into four groups and we made up sounds. One group made a sound ‘thump’ which was made by jumping. Another group did a sound ‘click, cock’ which was a wee bit quieter than the others but it still fitted in with the music. Another group did a sound the was like ‘niwwww’ and the other group did’ tissssssssssssshhhh’ they all picked a beat to come in on (1,2,3 or 4) After that we got into another three groups and the sounds were kada ka boom kada ka boom boom boom, chik chik chik and boom ba boom ba boom ba bib bib.

Week two

The next week was the first week to do it on the Elluminate software and Fionnuala introduced us to the software and we used the pointing wand to label ourselves on the pictures we took. We all got called up to write out our names beside our faces and got into our groups from last week and performed and Andrew, who was not there the other week, conducted us for Fionnuala.

Week three

The third week we listened to some music and drew pictures of what we heard and put them in order in our groups to make a story. We performed it to the class by holding up the pictures and saying what are picture was about but one group got person(Alana) to say the whole story by herself.

Week four

This week we  wrote out our stories on our iPads and after that we recorded them on Garage Band but since the whole class was recording at once we covered our hands so that you couldn’t hear anyone talking in the background.

Artist called Fionnuala at Bocombra P.S by Harry

On a thursday an artist called Fionnuala from Dublin came to BocombraP.S. On the first week we split into three groups with different sounds. One was kada ka boom kada ka boom boom boom another was stch stch stch and the last one was boom ba boom ba boom ba beep beep.

On the second week we went on Elluminate and we made our own song in four groups.

On the third week we went on the iPads on Garage Band and recorded a story about a rainforest.

Thursdays with Fionnuala by Amy-Leigh

The first time Fionnuala came was to our school we learnt about music and what she was doing here. Fionnuala is from Dublin so it was hard at first to understand what she said but I could recognise what she said after a week or two. We sang songs like kada kaboom (an african song). One hour before Fionnuala left we played a game that we had to choose a sound and beat to play it on. The groupIi was in  picked the beat 3 and are sound was pssssssssssst. Andrew got to be the conductor and counted “1234” so on beat 3 we went psttttttttttttt. I loved doing all the activities with my two best friends Jack and Andrew and meeting Fionnuala .

Nathan

On the first week we were warming up our voices. Then we were making up our own noise and our noise was nnnnnnnneeeeewwwwwwwww like a plane noise. Our group were very good. Our group was Nathan, Jamie, Alanna, Richerd, Amy-Leigh and Dylan.

Our Thursday’s With Fionnuala By Tara

The first week Fionnuala came, she talked about sounds and taught us two songs Cada ca boom and Boom ba boom ba boom and we got in a big circle.

The second Thursday Fionnuala came we were connected on the internet to her and we were making photos.

On the third week we used the iPads to take photos of our pictures we had drawn because we had to draw what we thought the place was in the song. Although it was hard at the first and second week to understand her Dublin accent but I was ok after that.

I thought it was easier to comunicate with her when she was here in our classroom but the laptop took too much time and it kept freezing on us. I can’t wait to meet her after Christmas sometime. It was really fun with Fionnuala!

Richard

The first week we sang cada ca boom  then we made our own sounds up and Fionnuala recorded us. The next week we listened to music then we had to draw what we heard. We had to write about it then we got the iPads and took pictures and wrote about it. We went on Garage Band to record our story that we wrote out. I enjoyed singing cada ca boom the most.

Musical Art With Fionnuala By Andrew

The first day Fionnuala was in our classroom I was sick but my friends told me what they were doing.  We sounded out our sounds and I got to be the conductor when the rest were doing the sounds for Fionnuala. She was on Elluminate where you can video chat and type instead of talking to the person.

The second  week we listened  to some music  that was in a jungle or a rainforest  then we drew a picture to the music.  The week after that we took pictures of everybody’s picture in the group on the Ipads then we wrote the story.We recorded it on the Ipads then yesterday we talked about everything.

Finnoula’s music is awesome !!! by Alana

On the very first week Finnoula came to our school first of all we got into a big circle and did a warm-up. After that we thought about small sounds our body makes. We then divided into groups and  made sounds on the number 1, 2, 3 or 4 each group chose their own sound . We then divided into groups again!  We were given different sounds group 1’s was kada kaboom, group 2’s was boom ba boom ba boom boom beep beep and group 3’s was chick chick. Again we were given a number to say it on, Finnoula recorded it. On the second week we talked to Finnoula over a programme called Elluminate  it is a little bit like skype. We learned how to use different tools like one that points to stuff in pictures. In the third week we listened to music that Finnoula made and drew a picture of what we thought we heard in the song. We then got into our groups again and put them into order to make one big story.
