Happy New Year

I have been making drawings building up layers, working intuitively I have been allowing colour to create form.

We are going to use a rubbing technique to explore this intuitive aproach to colour

While students were working with Wendy on their rubbings I had some whiteboard conversations with Curtis, Sophie and Dean.

Curtis was wondering which shapes to choose for his drawing, he started with an oval shape for a leaf, we discussed the detail of this the veins and how it attaches to the tree, the texture of the bark of the tree we talked about over laying colours how Curtiss liked the little spot where lines overlap – like the joint of a knee or an elbow, we played with different colours and and talked about how building up layers can show different seasons and different times of the day.

Dean came to show me his colourful rubbings. He wanted to know what to do next with it. We played with the rubbings as a kind of environment for characters

And Sophie was working with her avatar, practicing drawing over images
