new journeys

In the intervening week we all made journeys round our home territory making new journey sticks. The brief was to collect samples of native flora along with feathers/ evidence of local fauna. I made 2 journeys, one through a  broadleaf woodland and the other through an evergreen plantation.

We looked at the differences between the two sticks and identified some of the leaves and objects attached. I had photos to record my journey and these also prompted discussion. The we looked at the class’s journey sticks. They listed the plants and trees they could identify, sometimes using books or a friend’s expertise. The class used watercolours to produce close-up paintings of  particular elements on their sticks.

Orla and Jo visited the class and interviewed them about the project.
