Before Christmas we worked with precious objects that the children had brought into school to create memory boxes. The criteria, set by Mrs Wilson, included:

things that Mummy and Daddy have kept

things that created memories

We examined these objects through drawings, photos and careful observation and had some discussion about what the eye sees and what the camera sees. We also talked about any wear and tear that the objects showed and what the class thought about it.

Around half of the class thought that it was natural that things should wear and age while the others thought that the objects were flawed because of the knocks and scrapes. Their task was then to take a camera home from school and photograph an object that was very precious to their parents/aunts/uncles/ grandparents -something that had a special meaning or value.
