Started our project today! Asked the children where they thought I was calling from, London, Dublin, Scotland, Manchester…. a quick sketch and all was revealed Sunderland! Our project is mapping the current school curriculum, where the children have been researching superpowers and at the moment storms and weather. We began today by talking about weather and storms, this is poignant as I asked whether the children had the seen the news and the flooding in England, they said yes. Today myself and the children made a line drawing of our houses, we then developed these into collages – the drawings will be used in a couple of weeks when we examine the force and destruction of wind in the classroom. The virtual technology takes some getting use to in terms of the sound but this didn’t stop the great amount of work produced. The children took great pleasure in showing me their work in front of the camera with an organised queue forming to show me their work towards the end of the session. Looking forward to next week when we will be working in 3D and getting our hands dirty with clay.
