This week we discussed how museums and archaeologists put shards together to form vessels. Using a dark paper and white oil pastel I designed a roman themed image. In the classroom the children worked with similar tools and developed images based on personal narratives. Once the image was complete, a vessel form inspired by roman vases was drawn and cut out. This was then transposed to white paper and shards were made into the design. A visit to any museum will show reconstructed pots which contain plaster inserts, this was recreated in 2D using paper.
